8 Members of the High Park Junior Baseball Club played extra fall baseball with the respectable Universities this year. For the 2nd time in three years the ball club can proudly boast that they have a member of the roster to hoist the Rookie of The Year award in the OUA. Lucas Dasilva started all 18 games for the McMaster University Marauders and put together a stat line of 28 for 69 13R, 5RBI, 5BB, 6K and hit .406. This will boad well for the ball club this summer and for the next few during his junior career as this super utility man is going to make it very tough not to find a position to play. These numbers were similar to former ROY Austin O’Boyle in where the numbers posted in OUA were duplicated in the summer for the club to help win ball games and terrorize opponent pitching.
Gabriel Nakonechny of U of T had another banner year to follow up his Freshmen campaign. Gabby played in 17 games and put together a start line of 25 for 60 19R, 14 RBI, 7BB, 12K and hit .417. This was good enough to get the nod as a first team all-star 2B for the second year in a row. Gabby will return to the ball club this summer looking to build of his OUA season as well as an impressive Junior Rookie Campaign in which this year he will take over the lead off role and look to cause all sorts of problems for opposing defenses and pitchers. This will in all likely ness be a huge catalyst for the HP offence as he has big shoes to fill from this past season of Matt Voight (Laurier University).
The ball club is very proud of both of these players accomplishments and look forward to see what they can do this upcoming 2017 season.
